The Lady Trojan seventh and eighth-grade athletes fared well with several girls earning ribbons for their performances.
In the shot put, Marianna Botello captured third place with a toss of 21-11.25. Daniella Esparza placed sixth in the discus with a 55-2 throw. Moreno’s Raeann Flores was first in the long jump with a leap of 13-7. Kaitlyn Pelitire was fourth in the same event at 12-10. Flores captured second place in the triple jump with a 28-0.5 effort. Pelitire was first in the pole vault, clearing 6-6. Brandy Rios also won first place in the 2,400-meter run with a time of 10:18. Paige Knapp was fourth in the mile and a half event (no time reported).
The 400-meter relay team of Pelitire, Kailey Perez, Kayla Jones and Flores was first to cross the finish line with a time of 55.36. The same foursome ran the 800-meter relay and finished second with a time of 1:59.27.
Abigail Huie was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:09.91. In the 300-meter hurdles, Brianna Garza placed second in 56.95 while Victoria Treviño was fifth in 59.23. Johns placed second in the 200-meter dash in 29.51. Brandy Rios was second in the 1,600-meter run with a clocking of 6:20. Knapp was fourth and Huie was fifth in the same event for the young Lady Trojans.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Kelsey Gutierrez, Garcia, Daniella Perez and Treviño placed third with a time of five minutes flat.
Lady Trojan Mitch Chavarria placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap and skip of 27-7. Alyssa Silva was close back in sixth at 27-5.5. Raelynn Arrisola finished third in the 2,400-meter run with a time of 9:39.
The 400-meter relay squad of Makayla Martinez, Natalie Rivas, Keely Taylor and Chavarria placed third in 57.12. Arrisola placed third in the 800-meter run event with a time of 2:14.58. Maria Navarro was fifth in the same race at 2:50.31.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Silva placed fifth at 18.35. The 800-meter relay foursome of Martinez, Rivas, Taylor and Chavarria crossed the finish line in third place (no time given). Silva captured the first place ribbon in the tough 300-meter hurdles with a good time of 55.20. Chavarria was second in the 200-meter dash at 29.62 and Navarro captured a second place ribbon in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:35.
