BEEVILLE — The Beeville Independent School District Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) program wants all interested parties to be aware of the upcoming meetings for parents of Moreno Middle School or A.C. Jones High School ACE students who are interested in taking college courses at Coastal Bend College for concurrent or dual-enrollment credit over the summer and fall semesters.

Students who are enrolled in the ACE program and have 30 days of attendance at ACE may be eligible to have their college course fees paid for by the ACE program. Any parents interested in having their students enroll in ACE and potentially have their students’ college coursework paid for must attend one of the upcoming parent meetings and sign their students up for the ACE program at this time so that attendance may be met before the end of the spring semester.

For middle school students, the following criteria must be met: students who are currently in the 8th grade and enrolled in the ACE program with 30 days of ACE attendance can be approved to take dual-credit or concurrent enrollment coursework at CBC over the summer. The meeting date for Moreno Middle School is Tuesday, March 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the MMS library. Topics discussed will include dual-credit and concurrent enrollment coursework, ACCUPLACER testing, programs of study available to middle school students, and more. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend because this will be the final college coursework meeting of the semester.

High school students who have attended ACE for 30 days may qualify for dual-credit or concurrent enrollment courses in both the summer and the fall. Summer and fall registration for high school students will be at several different times. On March 25 or March 26, students may register from 4 to 5:30 p.m. with a mandatory parent meeting to follow from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and on March 27, students may register from 4 to 5:30 p.m. with a mandatory parent meeting to follow from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The student and parent must only attend one of these dates, not all three.

For more information on ACE or these meetings, contact the ACE business office at 362-6010, or visit the website at Go to the District tab, then click “Departments,” then click on the link for “Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE).”
