First of all many thanks to all of our Karnes City Community members and guests for joining us at our Annual Banquet this year. The theme, Bright Lights/Big City brought a wonderful crowd to all of the happenings once the doors were opened at the Panna Maria Hall at 6 p.m.

Much of the excitement was certainly due to the music played and sung by Cool Freddie & The Crew who kept our toes tapping and feet dancing to the beat of a variety of songs. Along with that, we were delighted that Partners Barbecue brought such delicious food to be served as dinner.

Shortly after, all who chose to do so, had time to review and bid on the Silent Auction items. Thank you so much to those who donated those many and varied auction items.

And, of course one of the annual highlights of our banquet is naming and announcing the members of our community who have been selected as “Citizen of the Year”, “Business of the Year”, and “Organization of the Year”. The contributions that each of these bring to providing and keeping a grand, reliable, and respected community is undeniable. In case you missed it those who received those awards were: Dennis Mika as “Citizen of the Year”, Jay’s Pharmacy as “Business of the Year”, and the Karnes County Historical Society as “Organization of the Year”. The key criteria for these awards has always been to honor those who make lots of effort to enhance the well being of the whole community that we all live in and share their efforts and talents to keep it happening.

So, once again we thank all of you who came to our banquet, and thank you also for keeping your Karnes City Community Chamber of Commerce reaching out to all of our long-time businesses and certainly the new ones who are joining the chamber. After all, that’s what we are here for, to make sure that all are welcomed to become part of what we call our wonderful place to live and be. If you are still thinking about joining and want to do so, just call or stop by our office during the regular hours of the workweek, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And the phone number is 830-780-3112.

‘Til next time and hope to see you soon, Cathy Passmore.
