Mr. Sauceda was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Wilson County to Federico and Maria Molina Sauceda. He was a dozer operator for Allen Dunn Construction and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pettus. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Maria Sauceda; four brothers, Juan, Leandro, Joe and Federico Sauceda; and two sisters, Beatrice Tejeda and Delfina Molina.
Survivors include his wife, Consuelo Sauceda of Pettus; two sons, J.D. (Irma) Gutierrez of Buda and Ruben (Pat) Gutierrez of Three Rivers; a daughter, Maria Rodriguez of Pettus; seven grandchildren, Sandra Gutierrez, Joe Anthony Harms, Brian Hernandez, Michael Gutierrez, Joshua Gutierrez, John Gutierrez and Ricardo Gutierrez; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Enecleto (Amparo) Sauceda of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial followed in Pettus Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Gutierrez, Joshua Gutierrez, Wally Rodriguez, Joe Anthony Harms, Henry Cantu Jr. and Josef Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers were Ruben Gutierrez, J.D. Gutierrez, Christopher Guerrero and Jonathan Guerrero.
