The JV girls took the field in the first game of the evening, and the Lady Trojans faced a more experienced Titan club. The Beeville girls have mostly freshman girls on the JV squad, getting their first taste of high school soccer.
The Lady Titans scored four times in the match, while the Lady Trojans were able to find the back of the net twice. Rebecca Requilman and Kennedy Treviño scored the goals for the Lady Trojans.
“The girls played very well; we were aggressive, and our spacing was also very good,” said JV coach Caleb Barber.
The varsity teams took the field in the nightcap, and it was a good match-up for the Lady Trojans. New head coach Jessica Pittman was pleased with the players’ efforts.
“Overall, the varsity gave a solid effort. We had moments of good soccer and have learned what we need to focus on for improvement,” Pittman said.
The Lady Titans scored twice, while the Lady Trojans managed one goal by Niki Longoria on a short breakaway.
Monica Garza was in goal for the Beeville girls and had the two goals against her but did come up with four saves and protected against 10 shots on goal by the Titans.
The varsity girls did not have all their team together for the scrimmage with Victoria East. Five varsity level players are playing basketball for the Lady Trojans and were in Aransas Pass, capturing a win over the Lady Panthers.
The two girls’ teams will travel to San Antonio on Saturday to meet the Burbank Lady Bulldogs in the second scrimmage. The Lady Trojans will have one final tune-up on Monday in Kingsville before hosting their own tournament Jan. 13-14, to begin the regular season.
