Lady Horns win fourth straight district title

The Lady Horns captured their fourth straight district title by defeating the Dilley Lady Wolves.

The Lady Horns defeated the Lady Wolves by a score of 7-2. The Lady Horns pounded out 11 hits. Several Lady Horns had great nights at the plate. Marley Snider was 2-3 with a home run.

This was Snider’s sixth of the season. Maggie Ham, Salina Chapa, and Kate Jimerson each had two hits for the Lady Horns. Rylie Shannon, Shawna DeLeon and Brooke Schroeder each had a hit for the Lady Horns. Defensively, the Lady Horns gave up two unearned runs.

The Lady Horns had excellent defensive games from Tiffany Garza, Kelsi Bartlett, Jessica Lichtenberger, Snider. Ham pitched a complete game. She struck out 14 Lady Wolves. It was a great win against a great team. Great job Lady Horns on being district champs.

The Lady Horns traveled to Cotulla on Friday night and came away with a 15-0 win over the Cotulla Cowgirls. Ham pitched a no-hitter. She struck out 10. Raye Bednorz pitched one shut out inning.

Offensively, Snider was 1-2 with a towering home run to left field. The Lady Horns collected 15 hits. Every starter had a least one hit. Lichtenberger was 2-3 with a double. Garza was 2-3 with 3 RBI’s. Chapa, Ham, Jimerson each had two hits for the Lady Horns. Schroeder, DeLeon, Shannon, and Bartlett each had one hit for the Lady Horns.

The Lady Horns season record now stands at 23-3 and a district record of 11-0.

The Lady Horns will wrap up district play on Thursday night at 6 p.m. against Three Rivers. Come out and support the Lady Horns.
