The Texas Sportswriters Association recently released its all-state squads and Pettus Eagle Ryan Beck garnered a first team selection as a kicker.

Beck made good on seven of eight field goal attempts last year with the longest clearing the uprights from 45 yards out. That kick came in the bi-district win over Sabinal and would have been good from 55 yards or better on that blustery night in San Antonio.

The strong-legged Beck also handled the kickoff duties for the Eagles and routinely placed the ball into or out of the back of the end zone, recording several touchbacks for the Eagles.

The Eagles also garnered three other positions within the TSWA honorable mention all-state accolades. Beck was selected as a quarterback. Wide receiver Hunter Tomlin was honored with his selection as was defensive lineman James Constante.

Both Beck and Tomlin are juniors and will return for their senior seasons for head coach Steve Marbach.

Constante will graduate this spring and his presence along the defensive and offensive lines will be tough to replace next year for the Eagles.
