The Lady Cats finished in a three-way tie for second place in district.
The three-way tie caused a three team tournament to determine seeding for the playoffs.
The Lady Cats ended up in the fourth place seed causing them to draw San Antonio Cole in the first round of the playoffs.
Cole was ranked no. 3 in the state and brought a 35-1 record into the game.
Cole had height of 6’0 in the post and 5’10 at both guards spots.
The Lady Cats fought extremely hard until the final buzzer sounded.
Size and quickness in Cole eventually won out and the Lady Cats were defeated 59-29.
Jackie Gonzalez led the lady cats with 12 points and seven rebounds. Kiasha Brown had seven points and Morgan Klaevemann had six. Laterrian Perkins pulled down six rebounds.
“I was super proud of the way our girls played. We battled until the final buzzer sounded and that’s all I can ask of them,” stated Coach David Hemphill.
The Lady Cats finished the season tied for second in district and a season record of 20-8.
Coach Hemphill noted, “winning 20 games is great for our kids. There are a bunch of teams out there that would like to win 20 games and make it to the playoffs like we did. I was really proud of them.”
