ROUND ROCK – Refugio High School students Tyler Castellano and Cole VanNess had the opportunity this summer to play baseball with the THZ Baseball Academy out of Round Rock.

The athletes attended tryouts and were selected for the team.

“Tyler, who was a center fielder and lead off hitter, had a lot of speed and a good arm,” Coach Bryan Edwards said. “While Cole came in midway through the season, he still did a great job as a relief pitcher.”

Edwards noted he was pleased with both athletes’ performances and their growth in the sport.

In addition to teaching the fundamentals of baseball, THZ helps the athletes with mental preparedness.

The team played in a total of seven tournaments during the season and ended on a good note, winning all four games at its last tournament.
