John “Tony” Moring, 76, of Refugio died Sept. 8, 2013. Tony was born Feb. 26, 1937, in Goliad to Elroy and Johnnie Walker Moring.

Tony retired from Texaco after 37 years of service. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Woodsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Natalie Henry and Nora Bell Elder; and brothers, Wade, Roy, Vernon and Doug Moring.

Survivor’s include his wife of 55 years, Alice Egg Moring of Refugio; daughter, Cindy (Bubba) Wiginton of Refugio; two sons, Phillip (Kim) Moring of Refugio and Richard (Jennifer) Moring of Schulenburg; sister, Lavada Krause of Atlanta, Ga; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; caregiver Victoria Maldonado.

A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 11, at the Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Peace Lutheran Church in Woodsboro with the Rev. Mary Ida Lobaugh and Rev. Michael Holmes officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio.

Pallbearers are Roy, Timmy, Edward and Johnny Moring, Stewart Cooper and Robert Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Kappmeyer and Darrell Moring.
