REFUGIO – Joe Edward Frenzel, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.

Mr. Frenzel was born March 2, 1928, in Jackson County to Joseph A. and Bertha Lee Searcy Frenzel. He retired in 1989 from Mobil Oil Company in Premont, after working 39 years and four months. He served in the U.S. Army as sergeant 1st class from 1950 to 1952.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jackie Frenzel; a daughter, Kathryn Frenzel of Plano; a son, James Frenzel of Austin; three sisters, Earlene (Son) Dawes of Bay City, Velma Moss and Jean (Corky) Powers, all of Edna; and a brother, Jessie Frenzel (Jerri) of Edna.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel,.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito.
