Bobcats run, jump and throw to advance to Region IV meet

KINGSVILLE – The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcat track team placed several athletes in the Region IV meet at Converse Judson this Friday and Saturday.

In the metric mile relay (1,600 meters), Zeke Huerta, Erasmo Huerta, Ryan Scott and Ryan Lakso ran a 3:34.07 mile and captured the gold medal, finishing first in the event.

The 800-meter relay squad of Andrew Casarez, Scott, Zeke and Erasmo Huerta placed fourth in 1:35.08. The sprint (4x100-meter) relay team of Casarez, Scott, Lakso and Zeke Huerta finished sixth overall in 45.34.

In the 800-meter run, Erasmo Huerta placed second with a time of 2:08.39. Jonathan Hernandez finished third in the 1,600-meter run in 4:58.32 and was also third in the 3,200-meter event with a time of 10:52.26

In the discus, Hernandez placed fourth at the area meet with a toss of 122-11.75.

Zeke Huerta was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 19-3.5. Erasmo Huerta was third in the triple jump with a 39-3 attempt.

The top four athletes in each event advance to the Region IV meet this weekend.
