Autney Jo (Magill) Ehlert was born August 14, 1929 in Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of Joseph Dwight Magill and Autney Mee (Duniven) Magill. Her family moved around the Port Arthur-Houston area before moving to Savannah, Georgia in the mid 1940’s. Sometime after graduating from Savannah High School in 1947, she and her family moved back to Houston where she worked a variety of jobs, including a stint with Magabar. It was during this time that she met and later married Charles Henry Ehlert, Jr. on August 27, 1955 in Houston. In 1957, she, her husband and new-born child moved to Refugio where they lived for thirteen years. In 1969, her family moved to the Katy area and lived there since. She and her husband were happily married for 50+ years before her husband died in June 2006. Her memberships and affiliations included various bridge clubs, the Twentieth Century Club, the United Methodist Women, and the First United Methodist Church of Katy.
Mrs. Ehlert is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Ehlert, Jr., an infant daughter and a daughter, Carol Ann Ehlert; her parents, and a brother, Jene Dwight Magill.
She is survived by her son, Robert Neal Ehlert of Katy.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Katy. Graveside services were held at 12:30 p.m. at the Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Reverend Marlin Fenn of the First United Methodist Church in Katy will officiate both services.
Honorary Pallbearers for the funeral service are the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist Church of Katy.
