Appreciate letters

Hey! He’s some kind of Refugio County seer – and I really like and appreciate his learned, sometimes lofty, letters to the Press.

I write, of course, of Arnold Macias. Macias is unknown to me, personally, but I know him as articulate, extremely, intelligent, and willing to back his heavy convictions with enlightening letters to your paper.

I only wish I had him as a regular contributor when I published The Woodsboro News. What sets Macias apart is his forthright convictions as one can glean from his vicious (albeit absolutely correct) castigation of the Bushes; his remembrance of the insidious ruling (that was wrong!) of the supreme court which gave the presidential victory to Bush over Al Gore; his repeated castigation of the useless and needless “wars” fought and being fought by our country; and, surprisingly cogent his use of the Bible to fortress his opinions.

Really, it’s been so long for us to read the beliefs of a true “liberal” in Refugio County – that makes Mr. Macias all the more respected and admired. (Although, it will be tough to find many open-minded Countians to agree with me here!)

Of course, I thank the Press for publishing Macias’ thoughts and beliefs.

And, topping off his brilliant mind is the public service attitude of Macias (“150 pounds of brisket”) in community affairs of his Bayside. Thank you, Arnold, I only wish I had you when I was “there” as publisher. My “take” then was being alone in certain beliefs. You’d have corrected that.
