Freshmen Carle Jordan Straube placed 3rd at the Texas High schools Women’s Powerlifting Association State Championships that were held in Corpus Christi Texas at the American Bank Center this past Saturday, March 16. More than 550 girls from around the state competed over spring break. 3A and 4A girls competed on Friday, March 15, in their perspective class. 1A, 2A and 5A competed on Saturday, March 16.

Carle Straube lifted her personal best by squatting 285, benching 115, and deadlifting 315 for a grand total of 715 pounds earning her the bronze medal in the 132.5 pound weight division in class 1A.

Coach Straube stated, “I am so very proud of her as I am of the entire powerlifting team that competed this season. It was a lot of fun coaching this group of young men and women this season. I am expecting great things to come next powerlifting season.”
