James Sterling Hackman, 53, of George West, died Friday, July 18, 2014.

Mr. Hackman was born Dec. 5, 1960, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to William Gerald and Nancy Ann (Ryder) Hackman. He was the craftshop supervisor for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, McConnell Unit in Beeville.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Sauceda Hackman; two daughters, Ashley Ketler of Hood River, Oregon, and Megan Hackman of College Station; three step-daughters, Regina Trevino and Julia Rivas, both of Beeville, and Mallorie Rivas of Austin; one sister, Pat Evans of Spicewood; two brothers, Raymond Hackman of Lewisville and Mark Hackman of Anthen, Arizona.

Visitation was held Monday, July 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel.

The funeral service was conducted there at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, with Chaplain Richard Packard officiating. Cremation followed.
