James Hollis Doughty
James Hollis Doughty of Sandia, Texas went to heaven January 21, 2014. He was born November 15, 1932 in Rockport, Texas to Alice Mae and Jesse Hollis Doughty. He spent much of his youth in Hebbronville and Robstown, Texas. He married Suzane June on May 30, 1952 in Kingsville, Texas and received his Masters Degree in 1959 from Texas A & I University. James worked as a teacher, high school principal in many small towns throughout the state of Texas and retired from the public school system as superintendent of Freer School District. He later taught at several south Texas colleges. He then began a career in law enforcement. He was an active Peace Officer with a Master's certification in the state of Texas. He was an elected Constable of Precinct 1 in Live Oak County and taught Concealed Handgun classes until shortly before his death.

James was extremely active in the pursuit of educating people in gun safety and the history of the state as well as in the community. He had a devout love for God, country, state, family, flying, guns, animals, and community. He achieved many awards and recognitions in his lifetime. His presence will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his brother, Rogers Francis Doughty; his four children, Hollie June Thompson, David Roger Doughty, Darleen Rachel Southerland, and Daniel Bayless Doughty; his seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Gregory, June, Andrew, Justin, William, and Gerette and his great-grandson, Evan.

A Memorial Service was held on January 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at West Shore Baptist Church, 150 FM 534, Sandia, Texas 78383.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Shore Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
