UPDATE 2:45 p.m. According to a press release from the Three Rivers Police Department, "at approximately 10:34 p.m. Three Rivers Police officer Monsies Robles stopped a green Ford Mustang for failure to use a turn signal at Oakville Rd. and Hackberry St."

Officer Robles made contact with the driver and passenger which the report states were suspected to be illegal immigrants.

Officer Noah Leuschner joined Robles at this time during the traffic stop. The driver and passenger were asked for identification but according to what Robles said in the press release neither could provide identification.

At this point it states the driver begin to run from the vehicle and ignore the yells by Robles, "Police,stop" .

The subject ran toward his residence on Hackberry St.

"I did not know what the subjects's intentions were and I tased him," Robles said in the press release.

The release said the subject fell into the home and closed the door behind him. Robles told Leuschner he was entering the house and when he did it says he did not initially see the subject but found him in the kitchen.

Leuschener detained the passenger of the car and he was placed in the back of a police car before he radio for additional backup and continued to the house to help Robles.

The press release said that Leuschner saw Robles and the subject fighting so he tased the subject.

"During the physical altercation the subject obtained the taser.Robles heard Leuschner say, 'Drop the weapon, drop the weapon.' Shots were fired by Leuschner and the subject fell. The subject was holding the taser in his right hand."

The subject, Margarito Martinez-Gallejos, was killed by the fatal shot in the abdomen.

Officer Robles was transported and treated at a hospital for injuries to his right leg and he received during the physical altercation.

UPDATE: 10:40 a.m. The Three Rivers Police Officer actually taken to the hospital was Moneis Robles. According to Police Chief Vance Roberts he was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Jourdanton and has since been released. He will come into the police station later today to give a statement. Officer Noah Leuschner shot and killed one of the suspects involved in the incident. The deceased name is Margarito Martinez-Gallejos. He was 25 years old.

Roberts said the investigation with is being conducting with the help of Texas Ranger James Bennett.

No other information was given at this time.

UPDATE 10:15 a.m. The Three Rivers police officer that was taken to the hospital has been identified as Noah Leuschner. His injuries are still unknown at time.

THREE RIVERS – One suspect is in custody, one suspect is dead and a Three Rivers police officer was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after a traffic stop ended with shots being fired at a home.

According to Three Rivers Police Chief Vance Roberts, the traffic stop was initiated at 10:34 p.m. and ended at a home on Hackberry Street.

He said the DPS crash investigation team was on the way to the scene as well as Texas Ranger James Bennett.

I take umbrage with your remark that "a bad man has been taken off the street". The kid that was killed was running because he didn't want to be deported. He also had no police record and was a good kid. There may be a reason that nothing else has come out about this case.

I forgot to mention...we should pray for the family of the man that lost his life last night. I feel bad for them.

This happened ten hours ago and there is no new information??? Somebody is falling down on their job!

That time is not very long...they are doing their job. I think our law enforcement has done a wonder job. We almost lost one...thank God he will be ok.

They have one bad man off the streets for ever and one in jail.

Let's pray for the officer that was shot...he might be ok physically but this will take time to recover mentally.
