The Karnes City ISD Education Foundation is happy to announce that we have received a $5000 donation from Talisman Energy to aid in the S.T.E.M. initiatives, which involve Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs for Karnes County students.

An upcoming Karnes County Eagle Ford Energy Camp using a developed curriculum from the National Energy Education Development group is part of the S.T.E.M. initiatives being planned by the KCISD Education Foundation. The $5000 Talisman donation will help underwrite this camp.

S.T.E.M. programs enhance the curriculum in order to better prepare students in grades K through 12 for college and/or vocational training. With new opportunities in the area brought about by the Eagle Ford play, the Karnes City ISD Education Foundation is now working to bring unique classroom curriculums and camps to the area. These educational programs will be driven by problem-solving, discovery, and exploratory learning, which will require students to actively engage in learning. Scientists from the various industries in the area will be involved to demonstrate and explain their work.

The Foundation is also planning the development of the Eagle Ford Vocational Training Center in Karnes City for students in all four county high schools.

Also, evening classes for adults looking to enter the oil industry are being planned.

KCISDEF wish to express sincere thanks to Talisman Energy for the commitment to education.

The KCISDEF accepts tax-deductible donations. To donate, contact Jennifer Dillingham, VP of Development at 830-583-5748, email: jmebrom@gmail.com or visit the website at: www.kcisdfoundation.net.
