Golfers from the community as well and KRIS-TV’s own Dave Froehlich and Morgan Frances joined the students for a round of golf. This year 18 students and eight adult golfers joined in on the fun.
“This is the biggest and best tournament we have had,” John Johnson, MMS teacher said. The golfers all wore Loudmouth pants or shorts while playing. This made for a bright and fun day at the course.
The tournament is a reward for the top students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades at MMS. The students were also rewarded with prize bags consisting of all sorts of golf paraphernalia from Golf Galaxy and movie passes, as well as their LM shorts.
Loudmouth Golf and CEO Larry Jackson have been a part of this tourney since its inception and are proud of the way it has taken off. MMS is the only school in the country where Loudmouth Golf has such a powerful presence in the way students not only learn but have fun.
The sixth-grade champion this year was Austin Black and his partner, Kelly Black. The seventh-grade champion was Wyatt Blackwell and his partner, Judge Raul Casarez. The eighth-grade champion was Roslyn Holland and her partner, Mitch Luna.
“The tournament itself could not have taken place without the help of Judge Casarez and Elias Chapa,” Johnson said. “They came through big time.”
This year’s tournament was dedicated to victims and survivors of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. After the tournament the golfers, their partners and teachers all enjoyed a nice awards presentation and dinner at Sammy’s Burgers.
