Locals, businesses and the City of Three Rivers received letters of appreciation from Game Warden Chrissy Plant and Hunter Education Area Chief Benny Ham from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on Monday, July 29, for their contributions to the hunter education program in Three Rivers.

“Hunter education is funded by the Pittman-Robertson Act, but the community’s support is what truly makes it possible and this is an opportunity to express our gratitude to the people who see the importance of it and invest in the community,” Plant said. “Without the support and volunteers it wouldn’t be possible.”

Three Rivers City Hall employees Deedee Guajardo, Rosie Forehand, Iris Johnston, Mary Lemos and Mary Edens received letters of appreciation along with the city itself for furnishing the hunter education classrooms and making it convenient for TPWD to hold them there, according to Ham.

Stacie Farrell received a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Three Rivers Valero refinery for their continued donations of equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs and a television to the program.

Rick Sowell of Sowell’s Bar-B-Q in Three Rivers also received a letter of appreciation for his continuous support of the program too.
