He was born Jan. 18, 1924 in Schroeder to Herman and Johanna Drier Groll.
Mr. Groll worked for Krueger Construction Company as a carpenter and retired after twenty-five years.
Survivors include his daughters, Wanda (Larry) Reinecke of Victoria; Donna (Dennis) Payne of College Station; sister, Emma Lea Holleman of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tanner, Derrick, Teneal, Danielle and his wonderful caregivers, Sylvia Riojas and Dorothy Riojas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Birdell Abrameit Groll; sisters, Enola Volkmer, Mathilda Kolle, Edna Windberg and brothers, Louis and Raymond Groll.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Angerstein officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Payne, Tanner Reinecke, Larry Volkmer, Glenwood Volkmer, Jerry Bitterly, Jason Brown, Mike Brown and Leslie Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers are Teneal Reinecke, Danielle Payne, Loretta German, Kenneth Volkmer and Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday's Friends Group.
