The 2013 District 12 Fashion Show was a huge success. With the theme of Candy Land Couture, Live Oak County had three participants travel to Edinburg to strut their stuff on the runway. Youth advancing to the district fashion show, who enter either the Buying or Construction Division, are quizzed on their knowledge of their garment in front of a panel of judges, who are knowledgeable in that given category. Whether it be the consumer decision making skills they gained from shopping and comparing different garments or the basic construction of how they put together their ensemble, the participant must know how to answer the questions of the judges.
Another category of competition at the District Fashion Show, is Fashion Storyboard. The 4-H Fashion Storyboard is an industry-inspired method of displaying original designs. The best storyboards create vivid visual images that are interesting and appealing to viewers. The storyboard “tells the story” of the designer’s idea. The storyboard includes original illustrations and flats, as well as additional materials (such as photos from the Internet or magazines, paper, fabric swatches, patterns, etc.) that have influenced the unique design.
