PANNA MARIA – The Karnes City Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet is set for this Saturday night, March 2, and organizers are excited about their special plans for the evening.

The theme for this year’s event is “Bright Lights, Big City!” The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. and wrap up at 11 p.m. It will take place at the Panna Maria Hall in Panna Maria. Tickets are $25 per person and available in advance at the chamber office (780-3112), from chamber board members or at the hall Saturday night.

Cool Freddie E and the Crew will provide musical entertainment for the dance planned as part of the event.

Cool Freddie E (also known as Fred Elliff) has had a lifelong love affair with music and performing. Growing up in South Texas, he was heavily influenced by the sounds of various music genres.

According to information the group’s website, coolfreddiee.com, all members of the group are incredibly talented vocalists, and bring a diversity to their shows that is unmatched by any other vocal group. Their shows include oldies, classic rock, country, pop, blues, motown, jazz, and easy listening favorites that offer something for everyone in their audience.

The evening will feature food, drinks and homemade desserts – a live auction and silent auction, and the traditional awards presentations for Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and Organization of the Year.

“That is still our way of honoring those who have done their best to make our community all that it can be,” said Cathy Passmore, chamber secretary. “And not only to honor those who have contributed so much, but also to be able to meet and greet many of our newcomers, who continue to become a part of our community. The evening should be a fantastic, fun-filled time for all.”
