Wow! What a week we have just had at the chamber and with all of the events going on in the area. The first to happen was the 2nd Friday Breakfast last Friday, April 12 held at Jerry B’s Restaurant. Dan Blecher, with RBC Financial, served as the host and we want to thank him and the owners of Jerry B’s for their wonderful help and breakfast.
And on that same day at 12 noon your chamber assisted with the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at the new Stripes business opening off of Hwys 181 and 123. It was truly a joyous and fun occasion with Karnes City High School Band playing and Stripes offering meals as well. So, thank you to that business for becoming an important part of our area. And, if you happen to see former County Judge Alfred Pawelek, be sure and thank him as well as he worked diligently for some time before Stripes decided to locate in our area with his encouragement for them to do so because we really needed such an important business with all of activities going on with Eagle Ford finding our oil and gas boom blessings for us.
And, then of course, the next day was the awesome Ground-breaking Ceremony for our soon to be Karnes City Business Park to be built on the corner of Calvert and Hwy 181. As a matter of fact and if you are interested, we have some survey forms to hand out to let JK Development Company know your needs and interests in what to build there.
And, the fun goes on. We are sure that another wow day is upcoming for us with our Saturday, May 4 Family Fun Day. It also encourages families to gather and get some exercise while enjoying all of the fun that will be happening. It starts in the Karnes City Park at 9 a.m. with registration followed by a 10K Bike Ride, 5K Walk, Run with food, drinks, entertainment and several inflatable jumpers for the children to enjoy. The cost is $5 for children and $10 for adults which includes T-shirts for each. There also will be a drawing for the give away of two bicycles. We also are still encouraging vendors to sign up for booths, tables at the park to display and sell their wares. Stop by the chamber office or call to get more information. There is no charge to have your Vendor displays on sale.
And some important changes are being made concerning the chamber itself and you will need this information to come by or call our office. From now on the Karnes City Chamber of Commerce office hours will be from 12 Noon through 5 p.m Tuesdays through Fridays. The office will be closed on Mondays. So, please, any inquiries are welcome and we hope you will come by and join with us. ’Til next time, Cathy Passmore.
