Karnes City Hermann Son Lodge 215 participated in the 5th Shannon Leigh Gaffney Scholarship Fund Bowl-A-Thon on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the University Bowling Alley in San Antonio. The scholarship fund was established in memory of Shannon Leigh Gaffney, a longtime camper and counselor who lost her battle with leukemia in December of 1998. As a tribute to Shannon, her family, in cooperation with camp administration, started the Hermann sons Youth Camp Scholarship Fund. Last year a total of $6,673 was raised at the Bowl-A-Thon and hopefully this year it will surpass that amount.

The purpose of the scholarship fund is to provide scholarships to Hermann Sons members that have attended the youth camp and are graduating seniors.

Representing the Karnes City Lodge were Mary Ann Serenil, Cherilyn Hext, Gloria Fenner, Henrietta Fenner and Garret Fenner.
