CORPUS CHRISTI – Goliad senior Meghan Truax finished in third place in the Class 1A-2A 148-pound division of the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state meet Saturday at the American Bank Center.

Truax had a 315-pound squat, 145-pound bench and 340-pound deadlift for an 800-pound composite.

Grape Creek’s Danelle Baughman won the event with a composite of 865 and Hawley’s Kandice Lopez was second with an 810.

Dilley’s Jubilee Flores was fourth with a combined lift of 765.

Goliad junior Austin Speed will compete in the 275-pound division of the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Class 1A-2A state meet Friday and Saturday in Abilene.

Speed finished second at the Region 5 meet March 2 in Bishop with a composite of 1,430 pounds. Go to mySouTex.com Saturday to see how Speed fared.
