CORTEZ, Colo. – A 52-year-old Goliad man disappeared Sunday while vacationing at Mesa Verde National Park.

Mitchell Dale Stehling was vacationing with his wife and in-laws when he went hiking alone Sunday afternoon.

Park spokeswoman Betty Lieurance said Tuesday about 50 people on horseback, on foot and in a helicopter are searching canyons and trails for Stehling.

Lieurance said Stehling might have taken a trail that leads to petroglyphs - drawings that were painted or carved into the walls by ancestral residents.
