A blowout on a Jeep being towed behind a Ford F150 pickup caused the driver to lose control on U.S. 183 just north of Refugio at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Timothy Jay Moellenberg, 33, of Pflugerville, his son and the family dog escaped injury.

“He was traveling south, towing the Jeep, and one of the tires blew out,” said Trooper Andrew Smith. “He lost control and spun around.”

The truck ended up in the ditch on the northbound side of the highway at the entrance to Roywell.
