FALLS CITY – The leadership of the Falls City ISD has recently held meetings and ongoing consultations with architect firm Huckabee and Associates, regarding finalizing the facility design plans for the new school building and athletic facilities that will be built across the street from the current campus.

District Superintendent Tylor Chaplin said that the meetings with Huckabee are “just another step in trying to approve the design and narrow it down to where it can go to blueprint.”

The conceptual design plan for the new facilities had already been previously approved, and district officials are now working with the architects to make certain changes that would make the design better and even more efficient.

The summer months will see, according to district officials, the design go from pencil drawings and then entered into a computer-aided design CAD, and then from there to actual full blueprints.

“Once we are able to get it down to some CAD and blueprint designs, then we’ll look into hiring a construction management group,” said Chaplin.

Civil engineers are currently working on more land surveys of the property area where the facilities will be built, and will forward the proper survey information to architects so they can add that information to the final design as well.

The clearing of the construction site where the new facilities will be built is set to begin this month, with official groundbreaking for construction planned for October.
