BEEVILLE – Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville Nurses are invited to celebrate National Nurses Week, which runs May 6 through May 12, just in time for Florence Nightingale’s birthday, the founder of modern nursing.

Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville celebrates the many ways in which nurses strive to provide safe and high quality patient care and because nurses play vital roles in the health care system and serve as partners with the community by promoting preventive health and wellness. These dedicated nurses are being honored for their tireless commitment and dedication 365 days a year.

Mayor Jimmy Martinez will proclaim May 6-12, 2013, as National Nurses Week in Beeville. On Tuesday, May 7, at 11:30 a.m., City Councilman John Fulgum will read the proclamation in the lobby of Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.

All nurses, active and retired are invited to join Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville nurses and administration for the presentation of the proclamation and a reception. Following the presentation of the Nurses Week proclamation, nurses will recite the Nurses’ Pledge. On this day, nurses are encouraged to wear their nurse’s white and caps.

Nurse's white and caps?? I have been a nurse for 8 years, and I don't believe I have nurse's whites or a Nurse's cap.

One of the reasons why I don't care for scrubs. It makes it difficult to distinguish all of the various medical specialties.

Of course the whites are more difficult to keep clean and are usually of more durable fabric so that transparency doesn't create issues. They also tend to require ironing so with today's fast pace lifestyle they aren't very popular.

They do make a great impression though so I hope that you'll find a pair to wear to the event.
