CORPUS CHRISTI – CPL Retail Energy announced last week that it is opening its “Reduce Your Use Grant” program for applications. Under the grant program, those nonprofits whose applications are approved could each be awarded up to $2,500 to fund energy-efficient upgrades.

Applications will be available online until Aug. 31, 2012, at www.CPLRetailEnergy.com/reduce.

“CPL Retail Energy is committed to harnessing our energy expertise to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Steven Murray, President of CPL Retail Energy. “Our Reduce Your Use TM grants are designed to support nonprofits in decreasing their energy use in order to have more funds to help their mission.”

Grant funds must be used towards the purchase of energy-efficient products or services to help nonprofits reduce their energy use.

To be eligible, organizations must have current or active IRS 501(c)(3) status, be registered with and be in good standing with the appropriate state registration agency, be in a CPL Retail Energy service area or community where the company has business interests.

Applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Central Time on Aug. 31, 2012, in order to be considered. Only one application per organization will be accepted.
