My strategy is to get my pages up quickly, leaving Team Everyone Else to play catch-up. With that in mind, I'm already over the 1,000 page mark and going strong. Hear that, Team Everyone Else? You'd better get on the stick, or you'll never catch me.
As I've mentioned previously, anyone lucky and cool enough to have a Runge Public Library card (clear of all fines) can sign up. But even if you don't have a Runge Library card, you can help us out. You can “like” us on Facebook and leave encouraging messages for Team Everyone Else. You can help us get the word out by sharing our contest updates with your friends. You can encourage folks to join the contest or even to play along by keeping a page count for all of the books you read from your library through August 9 (and only books checked out from a library count—no cheating!) and posting your totals on our Facebook page to encourage or challenge our participants.
Encouraging kids and adults to read and to make use of their libraries is a team effort, so welcome to the team, and thank you for your support.
Now that our summer Dig In To Reading program has ended (and a big thank you to everyone who participated), we’re making some other plans for fun activities you can share with us. We’re always open to new ideas and suggestions, but we think we’ve come up with a great jumping-off point: STORY TIME!
Beginning soon (watch this space and our Facebook page for details) we will be offering regular story times three days a week. Miss Peggy is terribly excited about this, as are all your old friends: the Pigeon, Skippyjon Jones, those darn squirrels, and King Hugo. As soon as we have a set schedule, we’ll let you know when to come by and give a listen.
Thank you again for all your support; we appreciate it!
