During the season of Epiphany, the church celebrates walking in the light of God revealed in Christ. The Seventh Sunday after Epiphany, the church remembers that Jesus calls humans to a righteousness that exceeds that of the Scribes and the Pharisees. This righteousness is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus’ call to be perfect as God is perfect.

The Greek word translated as “perfect” actually means complete or whole. Jesus utters the same from the cross, “It is finished,” or, “Mission accomplished!” The mission is to be the temple of God, to be the presence of God in the world, to let the light of Christ shine in all and through all, to be complete and whole as is the Heavenly Father. One walks in the light of Christ; one walks together as a community of wholeness.

St. Paul’s News and Notes: Lenten Offerings will go toward St. Paul’s Synod Assembly Offering, to purchase Life Straws. Lutheran 101 will be offered during Sunday School time beginning March 9. The time for Karnes County Relay For Life is fast approaching. See Barbara Jonas for details. The people of St. Paul’s are partners with the Karnes City Schools to provide school supplies and backpacks of food to provide meals on the weekends for needy students.
