On Friday the 16th the Kenedy Lions traveled to Runge to open the 2013 football season with their first scrimmage of the year.

It would be a good scrimmage for the Lions as they shut out the Yellow Jackets and only allowed four first downs in the 35 offensive plays that the Yellow Jackets got.

The defense also caused two fumbles recovering one.

On offense the Lions had 35 plays also and scored five times.

Seferino Villarreal would score three times on the receiving end from Dominic Cruz.

Jacob Asebedo and Tristin Villarreal would also score on the ground for the Lions.

The Lions would have 12 different offensive players touch the ball and kept the Yellow Jackets spread out the entire scrimmage.

In all it was a little one sided in favor of the Lions as they gained 400 yards on offense and only gave up 57 yards.
