Leo J. Moczygemba, Sr.
Leo J. Moczygemba, Sr., 89, of the Hobson Community, died Aug. 14, 2013 in Floresville.

He was born July 7, 1924 to Stanik and Albina (Labus) Moczygemba in Hobson. He attended Hobson Parochial School and later worked on the family farm. On Nov. 14, 1944 he was inducted into the United States Army where he served as a rifleman and squad leader until his discharge in 1946. He worked at Susquehanna as a loader operator and later at Chevron as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1989. Leo met Irene Olinick in Hobson and they were married on Jan. 12, 1949 in Cestohowa. They were blessed with 11 children, 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Irene; sons and daughter in laws, Dalton (Georgia), Norman (Jane), Allan (Jackie), Richard (Carolyn), Michael (Karla), and Leo, Jr. (Jeanette); daughters and son in laws, Janet (Marvin) Scheffler, Sally (Willa) Wiatrek, Sharon (Albert Jr.) Zunker and Mary Jane (Vincent Jr.) Janysek and a son in law Lynn Haby; and sister, Lucy Felux.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanik and Albina, brothers, Peter, Henry, Eddie, Walter, Stanley, Jerome and Victor; sisters, Barbara Korzekwa and Regina Richter; daughter, Doris Haby; grandsons, Warren Moczygemba and Leo John Moczygemba, III and granddaughter, Katie Lynn Moczygemba.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

Burial followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Dalton, Norman, Allan, Richard, Michael and Leo, Jr.
