CAMP WOOD – After a dominating performance the week before, the Runge Yellow Jackets looked to continue that trend as they faced the Nueces Canyon Panthers on Friday night. With their offense and defense clicking, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Panthers by the score of 41-13.

“This is what we preach all year,” said Runge head coach Matt Wright. “It’s a kind of philosophy we’ve developed. We feel good about what we’re doing right now.”

The Yellow Jackets scored four times in the first half, and the Panthers scored twice in that span, which gave the Yellow Jackets a 27-13 lead at halftime. Runge scored one touchdown each in the third and fourth quarters to ensure the 41-13 victory.

The Yellow Jackets gained over 500 yards rushing throughout the contest, a feat Wright said he is proud of. Additional statistics for the game were unavailable at press time.

This week, the Yellow Jackets will have their Homecoming game as the Leakey Eagles come into town.

“We will stay focused and the kids know what to expect even though it’s a busy week,” said Wright.

Kickoff in Runge is set for Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
