GOLIAD – The annual meeting of the historic Oak Hill Cemetery Association was held Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. in the Goliad City Hall meeting room.

Attending were Robin Barnhill, Alyce Ferguson and Janie Von Dohlen. Ferguson discussed the problems created when flags put on veteran’s graves are thrown in the trash. She has spoken with Laura Saenz, an employee of the City of Goliad whose husband works with the Boy Scouts. They will contact scout leader Robert Diebel so that the old flags can be properly disposed in a respectful manner.

Following the financial report, appreciation was expressed to Cristy Von Dohlen Billo for her service as an officer for Oak Hill and to Janie Von Dohlen for her help with carrying out the necessary maintenance and repairs during the past year.

The cemetery association would also like to express gratitude to the White Family Trust for its gift for the upkeep of the cemetery, to the Goliad Advance- Guard and also to the city and county workers for their continued cooperation and help with cemetery needs.
