HUNTSVILLE – Longtime Goliad resident Norris E. Lewis, 68, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home on Lake Livingston after a lengthy illness.

A memorial service for Lewis will be held at Riverside Baptist Church in Huntsville at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21 with Rev. Jim Newton officiating.

He was born Aug. 28, 1945 in Del Rio and married JoAnn Freeman on Aug. 28, 1964. Lewis coached Little League Baseball in Goliad for 28 years prior to retiring in Huntsville.

A graveside memorial will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Glendale Cemetery in Goliad at 4 p.m.

Lewis is preceded in death by his father, Norris E. Lewis Sr.; mother, Minnie Florene Lewis; and brother, Bobby Wayne Lewis.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jo Ann Lewis; daughters, Kim Deviney and husband Patrick, Susan Gruetzmacher and husband Darren and Penny Lewis; son, Thomas William Lewis and wife Mariah; 11 grandchildren, Natalie, Amber, Nathan, Amanda, Ricky Joe, Collin, Brittney, Kyndal, Melody, Tyler and Mckenzie; and one great granddaughter, Avamarie.

Services are under the direction of Waller-Thornton Funeral Home in Huntsville.
