GOLIAD – The Goliad County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that took place on March 31 at the Goliad Golf Course clubhouse.

A cash register and flat-screen TV were stolen during the early morning hours, according to the GCSO report.

“We must have been right behind them because they found some beer bottles and beers cans outside that were still cold to the touch,” GCSO Captain Tom Copeland said Monday.

According to Copeland, there are no suspects in the burglary.

Sheriff Kirby Brumby said Monday that there was also an attempted break-in at the Goliad Dairy Queen recently. He said someone tried to gain entry to the restaurant through the drive-in window.

At its April 2 meeting, Goliad city council members discussed reports of residents claiming to have cell phones stolen from their cars and one resident claiming to have gasoline siphoned from a vehicle. Copeland said the GCSO had not received reports of any such activity recently.
