It is hard to believe we are already in the fourth week of the first six weeks. Goliad Middle School hosted a Title 1 meeting, open house and family night at the book fair on Sept. 18. We would like to thank all the parents, guardians and students that attended.
Our seventh- and eighth-grade football teams have already played two games and they are doing a great job.
The Lady Cub volleyball teams also have played two games and one tournament. The ladies are doing an awesome job. Go Cubs and Lady Cubs!
The Chess Club will start meeting on Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Students will need to find a way home after the meeting is over. Students will be learning how to play chess and attending some competitions.
The National Junior Honor Society recently elected its 2013-14 officers. They are President James Albrecht, Vice President Kylie Neuvar, Secretary Madison Henicke and Historian Dalton Dornburg. Congratulations to these students!
Once again, middle school students sold Little Caesar’s pizza kits as a fundraiser. The pizza kits will be delivered on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Parents and guardians should make arrangements to come and pick up their child’s orders at school on Wednesday afternoon.
Weesatche 4-H Club members Dalton Dornburg, Garrett Oehlke, Tuffy Dornburg, Hayden Reitz, Taylor Curry and Landry Cunningham recently donated school supplies to the middle school. Additionally, Rhonda Gleinser and the Goliad Democratic Party contributed supplies. Thank you so much for these donations!
Goliad Middle School will host Eric Cupp on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Goliad High School auditorium. The presentation is free to the public.
The sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders will get to hear Cupp speak about “Life Is a Decision.” He will address high school students at 1 p.m. and will do a presentation for parents at 6 p.m.
We would like to thank the Goliad Education Foundation and the seventh-grade teachers for the grant to bring Cupp here.
