"Junior" was born in Ander on May 7, 1933 to Ferdinand Fred Sr. and Caroline Schroeder Post.
Soon after his birth, the family moved to Victoria, where his father operated an appliance store. When World War II broke out and appliances werenʼt readily available, his family moved to Schroeder, where they owned and operated Schroeder mercantile and dance hall. In 1950, they sold the store and dance hall and moved to the family ranch in Fannin. He met and married Helen “Elaine” Post in 1951 and they lived on the ranch in Fannin raising cattle and staying active in the community.
"Junior" was a lifetime member of St. Peterʼs Lutheran church in Ander, where he served on the church council. He also served on the board of Farm Bureau and Lions Club. He became Goliad County Commissioner of Precinct 4 on Jan. 1, 1983 and served in that capacity until Dec. 31, 1994, even winning an unprecedented election as a write-in candidate.
"Junior" was preceded in death by parents, Ferdinand Fred Sr., and Caroline Post, as well as one sister, Eileen, who passed away four months before his birth.
His loves were his wife; his children; his grandkids; nature and wildlife, including his three dogs, Dexter, Danny and Spot.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, 11 months, Elaine Post; daughter, Linda Hartman (Allan); son, Paul Post (Sandra); grandchildren, Natalie Post, Travis Post (Ashleigh) and Jaron Post; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Natalie Post, Travis Post, Jaron Post, David Post, Anthony Abrameit, Andy Abrameit and Keith Bowman.
Visitation will be held at Grace Funeral Home in Goliad on Friday, Aug. 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. with family receiving visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be in Ander at St. Peterʼs Lutheran Church on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.
