WEESATCHE – Elsie Louise Baacke, 83, of Weesatche, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.

Mrs. Baacke was born March 6, 1930, in Goliad County to Willie C. and Louise Els Lude.

She married Hayden Baacke on Sept. 11, 1949, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Goliad, Hermann Sons and was a post office employee in Weesatche (1960-2001).

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Hayden; daughters, Patty (Allen) Kolodziejcyk of Yorktown and Peggy (V.C.) Cowey of Goliad; sisters, Elfie (Roman) Baacke of Yorktown, Rosie Karnei, Dorothy Lude and Nettie Schulze of Weesatche; sisters-in-law, Maurine Lude of Victoria and Idell Lude of Yorktown; grandchildren, Shannon Kegebein, Gary Cowey and Nicole Stepanski; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; brothers, Edwin and David Lude; and a sister, Bettie Lude.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown.

The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Weesatche. Interment followed at St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery in Weesatche.

Active pallbearers were Preston Franke Jr., Glenn Karnei, Garrett Lude, Clinton Baacke, Steven Schulze, Gerald Allison and Paul Wauson.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church-Weesatche or Hospice of South Texas.
