The Presidio La Bahía Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas will be awarding two $500 scholarships to Goliad County graduating seniors in May.

The scholarship project is to promote the educational endeavors of area students. This is a new project and fundraising efforts were organized by the scholarship committee through silent actions, participation in Christmas in Goliad, and by private donations.

Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and must be enrolled in a college or a university prior to receiving the funds. Scholarship candidates must show good character and good citizenship both at school and in the community. Interested students should see Pam Hailey at Goliad High School to pick up an application and list of requirements. Goliad County homeschooled seniors meeting graduation requirements are also eligible and are invited to pick up the required application and information sheet at the Goliad High School.

Applications must be postmarked by April 15 and sent to Daughters of the Republic of Texas Presidio La Bahia Chapter, P.O. Box 855, Goliad, TX 77963.
