“I was driving and felt the wheel rumble, and when I tried to control it, it started flipping,” the driver, Luis Alberto Ramirez, 19, of Houston said. “I held onto the wheel and held on. I had the seat belt on, and thank God I did; when I saw it stopped (rolling), I got out.”
DPS Trooper Gabriel Llanes checked the steering in the vehicle once it was turned upright and said it was fine. He also said Ramirez was driving without a license and will get booked for it.
“I’m not going to discredit him, but his steering is fine,” Llanes said.
Llanes said it looked like Ramirez rolled about one-and-a-half times. He said Ramirez’s coworker was driving alongside him at the time of the wreck, and they were allegedly going 65 mph.
Ramirez walked away from the wreck with some minor scrapes and is in stable condition.
Acadian EMS, DPS and Live Oak County Sheriff’s Department personnel responded to the call.
