Three Tigers earn first-team honors on all-district baseball team

Three Goliad seniors - catcher Denton Ohrt, outfielder Davis Ohrt and pitcher Dustin Heibel - were named to the All-District 30-2A baseball first team recently.

Goliad junior utility player JJ Stastny and junior second baseman Ryder Billo were chosen to the second team and Joseph Lujan earned honorable mention.

Billo, Heibel, Davis Ohrt, Denton Ohrt, Zachary Helmer and Justin Thomas were named to the academic all-district team.

Refugio’s Travis Quintanilla was selected Most Valuable Player, Palacios’ Zach Garcia was named Offensive Player of the Year, Refugio’s Tyler Castellano was chosen Defensive Player of the Year, Edna’s Landon Myers was selected Newcomer of the Year and Refugio’s Armando Huerta was named Coach of the Year.

Other first-team members were Aransas Pass pitcher Victor Gonzales, Edna pitcher Dequan Cantu, Industrial pitcher Will Maraggia, Palacios pitcher Drake Garcia, Refugio first baseman Colton Carroll, Palacios second baseman Jonah Solis, Refugio second baseman Cameron Sternadel, Aransas Pass third baseman Matt Johnson, Edna Ross Novian, Aransas Pass shortstop Hunter McElroy, Edna outfielder TJ Foley, Palacios outfielder Dylan Brune, Refugio outfielder JW Shipp, Refugio designated hitter Cameron Loverday and Industrial utility player Brandon Maraggia.

Other second-team selections were Palacios pitcher Chris Deleon, Refugio pitcher Cole VanNess, Tidehaven pitcher Brandon Litzau, Aransas Pass pitcher Jordan Cole, Refugio catcher Shane Jochetz, Palacios first baseman Garret Shimek, Palacios third baseman Seth Garcia, Refugio third baseman Draigon Silvas, Tidehaven shortstop Cameron Sides, Bloomington shortstop Javier Reyes, Palacios outfielder Joseph Rodriguez, Refugio outfielder Jim Lafond, Industrial outfielder Kevin Gibbs, Bloomington outfielder Josh Cantu, Edna outfielder Billy Ganem, Tidehaven designated hitter Isaac Ibarra and Tidehaven utility player Eric Villarreal.
