BEEVILLE — On Friday, the Dog & Bee Public House will reopen its doors and celebrate with a bang.

The 200 block of West Bowie Street will be shut down at 6 p.m. for the British pub’s grand reopening and an outdoor street concert will feature country music star Rick Treviño.

Texas born Treviño was signed to Columbia Records in 1993 and has since charted a total of 14 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

His debut single “Just Enough Rope” was the first mainstream country music single to feature separate English and Spanish language versions.

Treviño has made his way through Beeville a few times before but never for an intimate downtown street show, which is sure to draw quite a crowd as he takes the stage at 8 p.m.

The Dog & Bee, which closed its doors about three months back to restructure its management and make a few changes to its menu, was first opened in 2011 to huge fanfare, complete with an Austin Powers impersonator and double-decker bus.

Owner Brenda Hughes said in a past interview about the pub closing, “We’re changing the entire kitchen to make it a little more efficient.

“We just couldn’t seem to get on top of it, so we figured the best thing to do was close it.”

And what’s new?, one might ask.

Well, during the event, you can sample the new menu as well as take advantage of numerous drink specials.

Food and beer will be on the house while it lasts, so make sure to show up early.

There is a $20 cover charge for the grand reopening event which doesn’t seem too bad for a full evening of entertainment, food and drink.

The Dog & Bee is back, and for some, it’s a welcomed reopening for sure.
