Summer camps lined up for young Trojans

BEEVILLE – The summer camps for young local athletes are lining up, and it looks like another busy summer. All camp fees are $30.

Athletic Club

At A.C. Jones High School, the Beeville Athletic Club will be open from June 3-July 18. It will consist of an open gym and access to the Trojans’ weight room where the primary focus will be on proper technique and explosive lifts to develop the athlete. It’s for grades 9-12 every Monday-Thursday from 5-8 p.m.

Summer track

The annual summer track program gets off and running on June 4 at the high school track and will last almost the entire month of June. Practice times are set for Tuesday through Thursday at 8-9 a.m. for ages 6-12 and from 8:30-10 a.m. for ages 13-18. Meets are on Friday and Saturday each weekend. Registration does not include an AAU card.


The softball camp at the high school will be on June 3-4 from 8-11 a.m. both days. Lady Trojan head coach Jose Flores and his staff will conduct the camp for girls in grades 7-9.


Trojan head coach Mike Luce and his staff will hold two sessions this summer. From June 10-14, the younger group (grades 3-6) of future basketball heroes will take to the floor at Marion Horton gymnasium.

On June 17-21, the older athletes (grades 7-9) will take the floor. Both sessions will run from 8 a.m. until noon.


Trojan head coach Terry Foster and his staff will hold his camp from June 10-14 at 5-7 p.m. at the high school wrestling room. It is open to boys and girls from grades 1-12.


The first camp is set for June 24-28 and will run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the high school gym. This first session is for grades 6-8.

The second session on Aug. 1-3 is for incoming freshman girls and will be from 8 a.m. until noon. Both camps will be conducted by Lady Trojan head coach Brittainie Zinsmeyer and her staff.


Lady Trojan head coach Don Ledesma has a camp set for July 8-12 for grades 3-6. The times are yet to be set, and the camp will be held on the soccer practice fields at the high school. Contact the Trojan Athletic Department as the date approaches for the times.

Both football and cheerleading will have camps this summer, but the dates and times are yet to be determined. Registration forms can be picked up at the high school, and any further information or questions should be directed to the Beeville ISD Athletic Department at 361-362-6058.
