SKIDMORE – Monday’s three games with the visiting San Diego boys produced one Bobcat victory.

The seventh-grade A team won handily, 22-3, over the young Vaqueros.

“Our defense played a huge role in the victory. We just did not allow very many shot attempts during the game,” said S-TJH coach John Salinas.

Offensively, the Bobcats hit for 22 points but not a great showing.

“On offense we were sluggish all night. It seemed as though we were just going through the motions,” Salinas said.

“We were coming off a great game against George West last week, and for some reason we were off on the offensive side of the game.”

Matthew Nelson hit for eight points in the win. Julian Jimenez followed with seven markers. Storm Toelkin added three points while A.J. Arredondo and Cole Terry each provided two tallies.

The win gives the young Bobcats a 10-1 record for their season, and they stand 8-1 in district.

In the seventh-grade B game, the visitors captured an 18-9 win over the S-T boys.

“After taking an early lead, we could not make any more of our shots. We beat them the first time we played them, but this time around their shots went in,” said Salinas.

Brenden Boales sank three points. Samson Tovar, Gabe Guajardo and Cade Conrad all contributed two.

The eighth-grade B boys ran into trouble against the Vaqueros. The visitors struck early and coasted to a 27-3 victory over the S-T boys. Brandon DeLeon scored the lone three points.

“We suited only five players, and everyone got lots of playing time. Despite the loss, our guys played hard,” said coach Jimmy Trevino.
