Friday, April 12, The Runge Chamber of Commerce held a July 4th Celebration planning meeting. This year’s parade theme is “Honor Our Vets!”

Through the years, our vets have fought and died for the right for you and I to be free, here in America. America is free, but it comes at a terrible price for many. And every generation must be prepared to pay the price, because freedom is not free. Many gave some, but some gave all. We want to honor all of them. Please help us “Honor Our Vets by contacting the Runge Chamber of Commerce at 830-200-8927. Parade floats will be judged by many criteria, but the big award is for “Honoring Our Vets! Other float awards will be for: Best float, Best Car/tractor (includes antique/non-commercial vehicles), Best Commercial Vehicle, Best Animal Entry (non-equestrian), Best Equestrian entry, Best Music/Dance/Band Entry, and Best Decorated Bicycle. Sponsors are needed to help with the annual fireworks, along with the trophies and music to be presented all day on Thursday, July 4th.

While the all-day event schedule has not been nailed down completely, we have many exciting things planned. Of particular interest is that we will be back at the VFW in Runge and all inside events will be in air conditioning. The vendors, music, raffle tickets, chicken plate dinner tables and chairs will be housed inside. I will repeat it again…July 4th, an awesome day to join us for shopping, music, a pie baking contest, chicken plate dinners and door prizes in air conditioning, along with outside competitions of soft ball, horse shoes and skeet shooting along with enjoying our car show, annual parade and fireworks.

For more information, contact the Runge Chamber of Commerce at 830-200-8927. Get involved. Sign up for a vendor booth, for competitions or get your friends together and be in the parade with your business, school or organization. It’s the only July 4th Celebration in Karnes County. Come on out.

You don’t need to be a chamber member to get involved, but if you are not a member of the Runge Chamber of Commerce, we want you to be. Runge Chamber is open for business. Just call and let us know how we can help you.
